Seventh Grade
The seventh grade class studies science, history, vocabulary, literature and religion together in our homeroom class. Seventh graders visit math and English teachers each day of the week. They also have P.E., computers, art and Spanish for an hour each week as well as a half hour slot for music.
In literature class The Language of Literature is the text. In this class students enjoy reading a mix of classic, contemporary and multicultural literature that reflect the exciting nature of their own society. We also read a very famous school-book called A Wrinkle in Time where they are introduced to concept of time travel and the aspect of fantasy stories. The student textbook for History is Discovering Our Past: Medieval and Early Modern Times. They learn about the study of the world from the Fall of Rome to the Renaissance. In vocabulary class, Everyday Spelling is the text. In this class students study a weekly word list. They complete activities where they find meanings, improve sentences, and apply meaning.
In religion class, we are reading Blest are We: The Story of Jesus. They learn about the sacraments as well as learning about things that middle school students can do to improve their community.
