- Description
-
In religion class we will be covering many topics philosophic and "deep" in nature. Your student will be expected and encouraged to participate honestly and wholeheartedly as our class will at times focus on finding the path that leads to the road of our spiritual journey. For class to be conducted in this way a tremendous amount of trust must be earned by me, and I expect all topics to be handled with dignity and respect by all students. The religion curriculum focus on four specific areas: The Profession of Faith, The Celebration of Christian Mystery, Life in Christ, and Prayer. We will begin every class with prayer, and I invite everyone to make it a part of your family's ritual or tradition.
While there are specific things that the students need to know, religion class will be based largely on discussion. We will be working on developing and growing in our relationship with God -- a lifelong process that looks different for each person depending on the stage of that individual's life. Students will be expected to know certain prayers by various points in the school year, and are expected to participate in the celebration of the Eucharist on a regular basis. While families (myself included) may have their individual parishes they attend, I would like to invite everyone to make the effort to attend the Family Masses that have been noted in the school calendar.
Students in 7th and 8th grade will be participating in our sacramental program for Confirmation, and I recommend that students in 7th grade begin thinking about service opportunities in order to fulfill the 50 hour requirement.
Please feel free to contact me at any time via email and the following website will be ready in the next few weeks. On it you’ll be able to find homework, resources and more.
